“Seamless Material Data Integration: From Metallography to ICME-Based Optimization”
Abstract
Matplus EDA is a flexible platform for integrating material testing, process data, and ICME tools (such as JMatPro, MatCalc, and Thermo-Calc) into a unified environment. The solution connects metallographic imaging with other testing methods, enabling a comprehensive representation of material states across the entire process chain—including time series and test series.
By directly linking to ICME software (e.g., for thermodynamic simulations or microstructure predictions), metallographic analyses are combined with calculated material properties. This integration not only enables automated evaluation of process-microstructure-property relationships but also validates simulation models with experimental data. Open interfaces like VDA 231-301 and BPMN-based workflows ensure seamless integration into existing PLM/CAE environments.
Application examples demonstrate how Matplus EDA, by combining experimental and simulation data, provides new insights for material development—such as optimizing alloy compositions or assessing process-induced microstructure changes. The platform is already in industrial use, supporting users in data-driven decision-making.
