OpenSEFA Editor

Substance and energy flow analysis
OpenSEFA models material, substance and energy flows along industrial process chains. Processes, stocks, flows and system boundaries are drawn in a Sankey-style diagram and solved as one physically constrained system. The method continues the substance-flow approach known from STAN: visual models, layered goods, substances and energy, and data reconciliation.

What is available today

Core modeling and data reconciliation on the open platform

Graphical editor

Draw processes, flows, stocks and system boundaries. Mass, energy and substance layers stay visible as connected views. The diagram is the structured input of the model, from raw material and treatment through manufacturing to product and waste.

Physical model

Each flow can carry mass and energy values, constraints and relations. OpenSEFA turns the diagram into equations for mass balances, energy balances and substance conservation, so the layers are solved together.

Data reconciliation

Industrial data is incomplete and often inconsistent. The solver treats conservation laws as constraints, estimates missing values, reconciles conflicting measurements and makes residual uncertainty visible.
